UPDATE July 29 - Brazoria WWTP
Posted on Jul 31st, 2025

UPDATE: Brazoria WWTP - Tue July 29

Brazoria Mayor Ray disclosed this morning that the new aerators at the Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP) will be starting up. Folks down wind of the plant may notice an odor coming from the plant. These new aerators are larger than the temporary ones that were installed and stirring things up off the bottom of the race track that had settled since it was cleaned. This should be a temporary issue and once things settle down the odor will be gone.

The water coming out of the plant is still safe. The race track, where this is occurring, is the first step in the treatment process where water has to pass through two more chambers before it gets to the river. Any solids that escape the race track will be captured in the next process which is the clarifierst that have just been rebuilt.

Good news is that they are making progress. Mayor Ray wanted everyone to know the City of Brazoria is aware of the problem and working to get it under control here in the next few days
