April 1st deadline FOR Scholarship applications

Friends Of the River (FOR) San Bernard is a 501(c)(3) organization consisting of volunteers who are passionate about preserving, protecting and promoting the San Bernard River for future generations. FOR programs include land conservation easements, Clean Team’s river clean up and Adopt-A-Highway, public speaking, as well as the 4th of July and lighted Christmas boat parades and toy drives.
FOR also sponsors a FOR Scholarship Program that awards six $2,000 scholarships annually to graduating seniors who live in or attend a high school whose attendance zone is within the San Bernard River watershed. Applicants must demonstrate a connection between their career path and the betterment of the environment. The 14 high schools in the watershed are Bellville, Brazos, Sealy, Brazosport, Columbia, Sweeny, Columbus, Rice, Lamar Consolidated, Needville, Boling, East Bernard, El Campo and Wharton.
The scholarship recipient receives $1000 for the first semester and another $1000 for the second semester for actual college tuition and book expense during their freshman year.
Applications & Instructions
Applications must be received by Tuesday, April 1st and will be evaluated and winners selected by a Scholarship Committee.
