Breakfast on the Bernard
Saturday, July 1st, 2023, 8:30am to 9:30am at Dido's Restaurant
Friend or neighbor, you're invited to the regular first-Saturday-of-the-month Breakfast on the Bernard. Come find out what's happening on the river and enjoy a great breakfast. Cost is $10 adults, $5 children - under ten yrs of age free. The coffee's hot and so's the conversation! Stay long enough to hear any FOR event announcements
Patriotic Boat Parade
Saturday, July 1st, 2023, 4pm to 6pm at San Bernard River
Join the fun celebrating the birth of the United States of America as an independent nation in the annual FOR "Fourth of July" Boat Parade.
All boats welcome. No registration. No fee. Just join in the fun and proudly fly your flags and red, white and blue decorations.
To view the parade if you are not located on the parade route, bring a lawn chair and go to the Friends of the River Community Center, 20450 CR 510-B, a mile south of the FM 521 bridge

- 4:00 pm - Boats lineup just above the FM 521 Bridge
- 4:30 pm - Parade starts, ends downriver at Churchill Bridge or however far they want to go.

Boater Education Class
Saturday, July 22nd, 2023, 8am to 5pm at FOR Community Center, 20450 CR 510-B
FOR sponsored Boater Education Class for kids & adults
It’s the law (Water Safety Act) that a person who is born on or after September 1, 1993 may NOT operate a boat on public waterways of Texas without supervision unless he or she has passed a Texas Boater Education Course and is 13 yrs of age or older. (12 yr olds can take class and print out boating card on 13th birthday). This includes the following vessels - a personal watercraft (jet ski), a powerboat powered by a motor of more than 15 horsepower, or a windblown vessel over 14 feet in length.
Boating class is taught by US Coast Guard Auxiliary. Class is a minimum of six hours. Class fee is an online payment for $35 and includes the Texas Safe Boating card cost to Texas Parks & Wildlife for those passing the USCG Aux test at the end of class.
