The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ)reports on water quality in Texas.

The last report on water quality of the San Bernard River-tidal portion (Segment ID 1301) was dated 2002. The monitoring site was at Churchill Bridge at FM 2611. It reported:

Fish Consumption Use: Not assessed
Overall Use Support: Fully supporting
Nutrient Enrichment Concern: No concerns
Algae Growth Concern: No concerns
Sediment Contaminates Concern: Not assessed
Narrative Criteria Concern: No concerns
Overall Secondary Concern: No concerns

2002 Water Quality Summary from HGAC on San Bernard River:
"San Bernard River Tidal (1301): Several small communities are in the watershed, 90% of which is undeveloped or open land. There are 12 domestic outfalls and six industrial outfalls.
