For immediate release. Please announce the following event:

F.O.R. Community Center - Newest Viewing Location for Christmas Boat Parade

Friends of the River San Bernard are happy to announce that the new F.O.R. Community Center, 20450 C.R. 510B, in the Holiday Shores Subdivision, will be the newest addition to areas along the river where the general public can view the lighted boat parade on December 8.

If you – or one of your friends - don’t have a home along the parade route from the F.M. 521 Bridge to the Las Playas boat ramp, you can still view the boat parade at the traditional places by coming to: Dido’s Restaurant (have a bite and watch the parade), the F.M. 521 bridge (where the parade starts), the F.M. 2611 boat ramp, High Five Bar and Grill and the Las Playas Subdivision Boat Ramp.

But this year, you can also come to the F.O.R. Community Center beginning at about 6 p.m. when the doors will swing open to accommodate as many Friends as possible. There will be plenty of coffee, hot chocolate and friendship inside the center. There is a large park-like yard area, at riverside, for perfect parade viewing! Be sure to bring your lawn chairs and blankets! There will also be a bonfire on the grounds to warm yourself by, as you wait for the parade to pass. Judges for the boat parade will also be on site, so cheer loudly for your favorite entry in the parade – it might help them win!

Drive on down to the center- there is plenty of room to park in the attached parking lot. Please drop off your passengers at the door, and then proceed to the designated parking area. To avoid any traffic problems -and to not interfere with our neighbors’ view- no long term parking is allowed on the street. And although there is a dock at the center, F.O.R. cordially requests that you come to this event by car so that the boats won’t block the view of the parade.

Bring your lawn chairs, your cameras and your snacks and come ready to get in the holiday spirit! To help you get into the holiday spirit, bring a new, unwrapped toy and F.O.R. will collect them for the Toys for Tots toy drive. And, who knows what magic might happen that night? We understand that Santa himself will make an appearance and will be available for pictures - and hearing Christmas wish lists!

The F.O.R. Community Center is also available for family and /or business functions for a reasonable fee.
