County Commissioner Precinct 1, Donald “Dude” Payne, withdrew his name from the candidate list at the election because of possible conflict of interest. Lisa Neasbitt became the board’s first Alternate Board Member.
The original Organizing Committee’s special program, which took place as the votes were counted, was adeptly emceed by Constable Fred Kanter. It included a slide show by Tom Valliere (with contributions by Connie Webb, Jane Wallace and Vanessa Taylor), a recap of F.O.R.’s accomplishments- to- date a rousing San Bernard Theme song (written by Nancy Kanter and Eveline Nachtegaele and performed by the ladies and Pat Webb), A River Wild and Free written by Pat Webb and performed by Pat, Nancy and Eveline) and ended with the San Bernard version of Paddleboat Queen (lyrics by Nancy Kanter and Pat Webb). When the spotlight dimmed, the new board was announced to the membership. Congratulations go out to all who were elected to serve the community, and those who participated in the process.
