Seen recently, heading upriver pushing a barge to the Phillips 66 terminal, is the M/V Trinity Bay, an inland towing vessel, owned by Higman Marine Services, Houston, TX. Built by Hope Services Shipyard in Dulac, LA, she began service in March 2011. She measures 78’ long, with a 34’ beam, a 10’ hull depth (78’x34’x10’) and weighs a dainty 177 tons. Two main engines are Cummins KTA 38s give the 2,000 total HP push. Note the deckhand standing on the port side of the barge (upper photo) as it approaches the FM 521 bridge, talking by radio to the Captain in the wheelhouse on how close they coming to the bridge span.
