This article appeared on the FOR website Oct 18, 2016. This year's Hunter's moon will take place on Nov 3rd of this year.
This past October weekend, a full moon rose over the San Bernard called a hunter's moon. The October moon rises slightly earlier than in other months  giving more light during a 24-hr day, making it handy for hunters.
Keep your camera ready since supermoons will rise on Nov 14 and Dec 14. The November moon, according to NASA, will be "not only the closest full moon of 2016 (222,365 miles from Earth) but also the closest full moon to date in the 21st century." And it won't be this close to Earth again until 34 years later.

Did you miss seeing the biggest, brightest supermoon rise over the river the evening of Mon Nov 14th? If you missed it, here is San Bernard River resident Tom Folger’s photograph of it. You won't see another closeup of the moon for 68 more years.
