Historic San Bernard River Ferries
Posted on Oct 5th, 2017

The Sweeny Texas History  website has an interesting and informative paper on Black’s Ferry history  and surrounding area. The Black's Ferry Bridge still exists today on FM 522, connecting Sweeny and West Columbia. Before the bridge, the ferry was used for transporting plantation crops and people.

Two past articles about historic ferries have also appeared on the FOR San Bernard website - Black’s Ferry on July 2, 2013 and Hinkle’s Ferry on July 22, 2017.

Thanks to Ron and Melissa Evans, owners of the east bank ferry landing property, for finding this article.
