FRIENDS OF THE RIVER ADOPT FM 2918
They don’t just clean up rivers.
The Friends of the River San Bernard
recently adopted two miles of FM 2918 from
FM 2611 to CR 868 for litter control,
spokeswoman Jan Edwards said. For at least
the next two years, members will remove
trash and other debris from the roadside not
only to keep it attractive, but to keep
unwanted items out of the San Bernard River,
Edwards said.
“If trash doesn’t find its way into the
river, we won’t need to clean it out of the
river next spring,” she said.
Volunteers will attend a safety meeting,
then remove litter at least four times per
year. The Texas Department of Transportation
will erect a sign showing the group’s
adoption of the area, provide traffic
control signs, vests and trash bags and
remove filled bags and heavy or hazardous
debris.
