MORE THAN 3 TONS OF TRASH PULLED FROM RIVER
More than 7,000 pounds of debris was removed from the San Bernard River area in
the Friends of the River heavy cleanup Saturday and Monday. That amount is down
substantially from 26,000 pounds last year.
The goal was to remove refrigerators, washing machines, water heaters, truck
tires, car parts and other heavy debris from the area, volunteer Jan Edwards
said. Heavy debris days were scheduled during the week because of lower boat
traffic.
Volunteers are welcome to help out with the FOR household trash removal from 9
a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Call David Pope at (979) 798-6251 for information.
