20th annual Boat Parade called a success

Friends Of the River San Bernard on Saturday presented the 20th annual San Bernard River Christmas Boat Parade and home decorating contest.

It was the largest contest in the event’s history with 26 boats and 15 homes entered.

The contest winners were:

Houses 100 feet and less: Nelson and Vanessa Taylor, first place; Danny Machacek, second place; and Pat and Connie Webb, third place.

Houses 100 feet and more: Ed and Karen Kadera, first place; Eileen and Buddy Kenneda, second place; and Karen Creacy, third place.

Smaller boats: Valroy and Adalia Maudlin, first place; Mark Paladino, second place; David Pope, third place.

Mid-sized boats: Darrell and Gloria Powell, first place; Karen Creacy, second place; and James Gillenwaters, third place.

Larger boats: Pete and Sue Smirch (Dido’s), first place; Pat and Connie Webb, second place; and Charles and Rosemary Doolin, second place.
