F.O.R. San Bernard Activity Update
April 2007
Summary of News,
Accomplishments and Events:
April 3
– Brazoria County Chamber of
Commerce luncheon.
F.O.R. represented by the River Mouth
Committee and other members.
April 7 –
Breakfast at Dido’s. Approx. 65
people attended.
**
Beginning this month, Gloria Powell,
will be handling all breakfast
arrangements. Contact Gloria at
breakfast@sanbernardriver.com
with r.s.v.p.'s- menu suggestions, or to
volunteer.

11 – Clean Team Committee Spring
Clean public meeting held at 2
J’s.
April
12 – Board of Directors
meeting.
April
13 – Fund Raising Dinner for the
Migration Celebration at the
San Bernard National Wildlife Refuge.
F.O.R. represented by the Mouth
Committee and other F.O.R. members.
April
14 – Migration Celebration-San
Bernard National Wildlife Refuge.
F.O.R. was represented by the Mouth
Committee, who manned a booth,
handing out F.O.R. brochures and
flyers for the upcoming river
clean-up and discussing river issues
with interested parties.
April
14 – Earth Day at
Brazos Bend State Park.
F.O.R. San Bernard represented, by
the Environmental, Clean Team and
Executive Committees. Members manned
a booth, with presentations;
distributing F.O.R. brochures,
literature etc. on river issues.
April
17- Environmental Committee meeting
April
20 – First day of the Heavy Debris
clean -up. The removal of the
fiberglass tank in the river at
River’s End was covered by Facts
reporter, John Lowman and
photographer, Dan Dalstra.
April
21 – Envirofest at
Brazos Mall F.O.R.'s
Environmental, Mouth,
Clean Team and
Executive
Committees manned a booth in
Lake Jackson,
distributing FOR brochures, basin
summary reports, and discussing
river issues with interested
parties..
April
23 – Members of F.O.R. participated
in the second day of Heavy Debris
Clean-up
April
23- Executive Committee meeting
April
24 – F.O.R. members attended
Commissioner’s Court in support of
funding for the Brazoria Economic
Alliance.
April
28 – F.O.R.'s Spring Clean,
netted 32,200 pounds of debris
removed from the San Bernard River.
Thank you dinner followed clean up.
April
28 – F.O.R. was represented by the
River Mouth Committee at a public
meeting with federal Senator John
Cornyn in Pearland to discuss Rep.
Ron Paul’s request for 5 million
dollars to re-open the mouth of the
San Bernard
River,
currently pending
in the
Energy and Water Bill.

$19,841.21 deposited in Lone Star
Bank.

Vanessa Taylor
F.O.R. San Bernard's Parade
Committee was very active in April,
with plans being made for the 2nd
Annual Memorial Day Boat Parade.
*A "Design
the Parade Shirt "contest was
held in the Brazosport Independant
School District. Winners of the
contest were as following:Jessica
Saldana, Lauren Andrews, Charles
Rudd. This years Memorial Day
Parade Shirt will be created from
the winning design.

is the new avatars being used. The forum
is a great way to stay abreast of the
latest happenings on the river, and with
each other! A new birthday catagory has
