F.O.R. San Bernard
members-volunteers
Vance and Brenda Verbeck
We moved to the wonderful San
Bernard River, 4 ½ years ago. Every
day we come home from work, it is
like being at our own personal
resort. We wonder why we didn’t do
this sooner. Prior to moving on the
San Bernard, we lived in Matagorda
County for 25 years.
We have 3 boys, ages 23, 24 and 27.
Two of our sons live in Lake Jackson
and stop by on Sunday afternoons to
enjoy the river and something fresh
off the grill. Our oldest son lives
in San Diego.
Vance
Served in U.S. Naval Submarine
Service
Currently working at South Texas
Project, just completed 30 years.
Looking forward to spending
retirement years on the river in the
near future.
Brenda
Also works at South Texas Project,
going on 20 years.
Spare time is taken up with college
classes.
We both love to travel, especially
to the Caribbean, where we enjoy
scuba diving. We are both Master
Diver certified. We have enjoyed the
underwater beauty of Cozumel,
Jamaica, Bahamas, Bimini, Grand
Cayman, Cayman Brac, Roatan, Hawaii,
Florida, and a National Marine Park
sanctuary about 100 miles south of
Freeport known as the Flower
Gardens/Stetson Bank.
We enjoy motorcycle touring, and
have been to the top of Pikes Peak.
The views, especially from a
motorcycle, were amazing
(however, Brenda says she will never
do that again).
We have participated in all the
river clean-ups. We helped with the
first River Raiser fund raiser by
serving food, and have enjoyed as
many breakfasts as our schedule
allows (work interferes with
everything). We also participated in
the first Can You Dig It?.
If we haven’t met you yet, we would
love to. If you see the Margarita
machine going, stop by and join us.
It’s 5-O'clock somewhere !
See you at
breakfast!
