Get Ready for the San Bernard River Spring
Clean-up Event!
By David Pope

This year, the San
Bernard River Clean-Up is happening Saturday,
April 28th from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
There are 5
collection sites along the 26 miles of the river where you
can join the clean-up.
These sites are the Hanson Riverside Park @ Hwy. 35;
the public boat ramps at F.M. 521, F.M. 2611 and the end of
F.M. 2918; and 2J’s marina on F.M. 2918.
The past two years
several dozen folks have joined in on what we call the
Heavy Debris Clean-up Day. This year, in order to clean
even more river bank, we have planned for 2 Heavy
Debris Days. Friday April 20th and Monday
April 23rd. Those wishing to help with one or
both of these Heavy Debris events should be at the
F.M. 2611 bridge at 9 a.m. on one or both days. The
Heavy Debris Days are scheduled on weekdays because of
the very light boat traffic
which helps our crews when they are trying to gather,
transport and unload large, bulky objects to the collection
sites.

The next planning
meeting for all the clean-up events is scheduled for
Wednesday, April 11th 7 p.m. at 2J’s Restaurant.
Any updates on the Heavy Debris Days will be
announced at that time.
