Who Keeps the San Bernard River Clean?

You Do

The San Bernard Annual Spring Clean is scheduled for April 28th. But, there is a lot of work that goes on before the main event, and this past Saturday, March 10, a group of dedicated F.O.R. members who could not make the scheduled clean-up got out on the river for a little spring cleaning.

Gail Brinson (a.k.a., Holeman), and daughter, Emily helped pick up some of the heavy debris, and together, we cleaned up a compressor tank, 2 refrigerators, lots of small ice chests and plastic trash cans, 2 car/truck tires and rims and a LARGE tractor tire that was lodged on a tree stump. All in all, we took about 1,500 to 2,000 pounds of junk out of the river.

Nelson Taylor helped us to pull all the stuff to the trash can area at the 521 boat ramp. I also handed out 7 flyers for the April 28th Clean-up Day. Folks we met all along the river seemed to appreciate our efforts and most said they will join us for the scheduled clean-up on April 28th.

All in all, Saturday was a very good day for the San Bernard River.

Start making plans, now, to come out and help clean up the river, April 28th 9 a.m. – 3p.m. Our river clean-up is one of the earliest in the country and it has news coverage and calendar listings both in our state and nationwide.......

The next planning meeting is Thursday night, March 15th at 7 p.m. at Dido’s.

Holeman, Emily and some other folks couldn’t wait and had a mini Heavy Debris Clean-up Saturday.
