Public Comment Deadline Near
The public comment period for the proposed widening and
deepening of the Freeport Harbor Ship Channel ends Tuesday, January 9, 2007.
The Port of Freeport has applied to the U.S. Army Corps of
Engineers for a permit to widen and deepen parts of the harbor jetty channel
and the entire Freeport Harbor entrance channel from 400 to 600 feet.
Copies of the draft environmental impact statement are
available at the Brazoria County Library System in the Angleton, Freeport,
Lake Jackson and Brazoria libraries. The draft environmental impact
statement is also available on the Corps of Engineers website at:
