Attn:  Prospects and Members of the Texas Chapter of the ASBPA:

Final plans are being made for the July 12 meeting in Surfside at Stahlman Park.

Stahlman Park is located at 2211 Blue Water Highway (CR 257).  The directions to Stahlman Park, a facility that is enclosed and can hold 100-200 people, is as follows so bring them on!!

  1. Stahlman Park can be reached from Galveston by going across the San Luis Pass Bridge on FM 3005 to Surfside, approximately 12 miles after the toll bridge.  It is located on the south side - there is a sign on the highway for Stahlman Park.
  2. Stahlman Park can be reached from Houston by coming down Highway 288 and then taking SH 332 East out of Lake Jackson.  Cross over the bridge to Surfside and at the light, turn left onto the Bluewater Highway and go approximately 1.5 miles on the right.
  3. Stahlman Park can be reached from Highway 36 by going through Freeport and turning left on FM 523 and then a right on SH 332E and going over the bridge to Surfside, turn left onto the Bluewater Highway and go approximately 1.5 miles on the right.

The Texas Chapter meeting will begin at 1:00 PM but we have been invited to attend the Brazoria County Shoreline Restoration Task Force meeting, which starts at 11:00 PM.  Michael Johns, Freeport LNG Coordinator, will speak in regard to the Quintana Nourishment Project by Freeport LNG.  An itinerary Brazoria County task Force meeting will be available shortly.

There will be a luncheon at the meeting at noon so please let me know if you plan to attend.

One of the key topics will be the upcoming 80th Texas Legislative Session.  Besides funding CEPRA, we need to determine the coastal issues and concerns the 18 coastal counties would like the Texas Chapter to address and support during the Session.  This will be an important ingredient for the Legislative Committee to handle.

I hope all committees are able to meet before the July 12 meeting to give a report at the meeting.

An itinerary will be forthcoming and in the interim please let me know if you would like any other matters to be discussed at the meeting.

Jerry Mohn, President

 TX Chapter of the ABSPA
